Bushwacker Rocker Guards – Heavy-Duty Protection for Your Truck
Our rocker guards deliver the same impact-resistant engineering we’ve built into vehicle protection since 1967. Each set is molded from heavy-gauge Dura-Flex® 2000 TPO or powder-coated steel depending on your vehicle application, designed to absorb rock strikes and brush contact without cracking or peeling.
We pattern every guard to follow your truck’s factory body lines, so installation is bolt-on simple with pre-drilled mounting points. The textured matte black finish matches OEM fender flares and won’t fade under constant UV exposure. Whether you run trails every weekend or navigate jobsite debris daily, these guards add a protective barrier between your paint and the obstacles that matter.
- Dura-Flex® 2000 TPO or powder-coated steel construction resists cracking and UV fade
- Vehicle-specific fit follows factory body contours for seamless integration
- Pre-drilled mounting points and included hardware for bolt-on installation
- Textured matte black finish complements factory fender flares and trim
- Impact-tested to absorb trail debris, rock strikes, and brush contact
Materials & Construction Built for Impact

We manufacture Bushwacker rocker guards in two core materials depending on your vehicle platform. Dura-Flex® 2000 TPO guards use our proprietary thermoplastic olefin compound that flexes on impact rather than shattering, so gravel strikes and trail obstacles leave minimal marks. The material memory allows the surface to return to its original shape after moderate collisions.
Steel guards receive a multi-stage powder-coat process over heavy-gauge cold-rolled steel. We apply zinc primer before the topcoat to prevent rust bloom at mounting points and edge seams. Both materials are UV-stabilized to maintain their factory appearance through years of sun exposure. The textured finish hides minor scuffs better than gloss coatings and won’t show water spots or dust buildup between washes.
Installation & Fitment Specifications

Every set ships with vehicle-specific mounting brackets and stainless steel hardware. We pre-drill all attachment points to align with your truck’s existing frame holes and pinch-weld locations, so you won’t need to measure or mark placement. Most installations complete in 60–90 minutes with basic hand tools.
The guards mount inboard of your door sills, leaving clearance for side steps and running boards. If you’re already running aftermarket steps, verify clearance before ordering—our customer service team can confirm compatibility with your specific step model. We design each guard to sit flush against the rocker panel without gaps that trap mud or debris. The leading and trailing edges tuck behind factory wheel-well liners to create a continuous protective surface from front fender to rear quarter panel.
What’s Included in Every Kit

Each Bushwacker rocker guard set includes driver and passenger side panels, vehicle-specific mounting brackets, stainless steel bolts and washers, and detailed installation instructions with torque specifications. We also provide adhesive-backed foam spacers for models that require gap compensation between the guard and body.
You’ll receive our limited lifetime warranty card covering defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty extends to the original purchaser and requires proof of purchase for claims. We don’t cover damage from collisions, improper installation, or modifications made after purchase. If you need replacement hardware or brackets down the line, individual components are available through our customer service team.

Questions about Bushwacker rocker guards
Yes, our rocker guards are designed to clear most OEM and aftermarket running boards. The upper mounting flange sits high enough to avoid interference with standard step profiles. However, low-profile or custom boards may require spacing adjustments.
We recommend test-fitting your specific running board model before final installation. If you’re unsure about compatibility, contact our customer service team with your vehicle year, make, model, and the brand of running boards you’re using. We can confirm clearance and provide spacer recommendations if needed.
Dura-Flex® 2000 TPO guards offer impact-absorbing flexibility, making them ideal for trail use where rocks and branches create frequent contact. The thermoplastic material flexes on impact and returns to shape, resisting cracks and permanent deformation. These guards are lighter and won’t rust.
Steel guards provide maximum rigidity and are better suited for heavy-duty jobsite use or extreme rock crawling where you need unyielding protection. The powder-coated steel construction is heavier and more resistant to sharp-edge punctures. Both materials use the same mounting system and offer comparable coverage—the choice depends on your primary use case and personal preference for flex versus rigid protection.
Most installations complete in 60 to 90 minutes with basic hand tools. You’ll need a socket set, drill, and torque wrench to secure the mounting brackets and hardware. All attachment points are pre-drilled and vehicle-specific, so there’s no measuring or custom fabrication required.
If you’re working around aftermarket suspension, lift kits, or custom step bars, allow additional time for test-fitting and spacing adjustments. We include detailed instructions with torque specifications and step-by-step photos for your specific vehicle platform.
Yes, Bushwacker rocker guards use the same textured matte black finish as our fender flare product lines. The Dura-Flex® material and surface treatment are identical, so guards and flares will match perfectly when installed together.
Both products are UV-stabilized to age at the same rate, maintaining color consistency over time. If you already have Bushwaker flares on your vehicle, these guards will integrate seamlessly as part of a complete exterior protection package.
Yes, every set is backed by our limited lifetime warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty extends to the original purchaser and requires proof of purchase for any claims.
We do not cover damage resulting from collisions, improper installation, modifications, or normal wear from intended use. If you experience a manufacturing defect, contact our customer service team with photos and your purchase documentation. We’ll evaluate the claim and provide replacement components or a full replacement set as appropriate.
Dura-Flex® TPO guards can be painted using flexible automotive paint systems designed for plastic substrates. You’ll need to scuff the surface with 400-grit sandpaper, apply a plastic adhesion promoter, then use a flexible primer and topcoat. Standard automotive paint will crack on TPO without proper prep and flex additives.
Steel guards accept standard automotive paint more easily since they’re already powder-coated metal. We recommend professional paint application if you want a custom color, as improper prep or paint selection can lead to peeling and premature wear. Painting the guards will void the finish warranty, though the structural warranty on materials remains in effect.
Bushwacker rocker guards add approximately 1 to 1.5 inches of width to your vehicle’s rocker panel area but do not significantly affect ground clearance beneath the frame rails. The guards mount flush against the factory rocker panel and follow the existing body line.
If you’re running low-profile aftermarket steps, the combined assembly may sit slightly lower than stock. For off-road applications, verify that your step and guard combination maintains adequate clearance for the obstacles you regularly encounter. The guards themselves are designed to take impacts, so minor scrapes on the lower edge are expected during trail use and won’t compromise protection.
