Bushwacker Boss Fender Flares | Heavy-Duty Truck Protection
We engineered the Bushwacker Boss fender flares to deliver the widest tire coverage in our lineup, protecting your truck’s paint from rocks, mud, and trail debris when you push into serious off-road territory. These flares extend up to 6 inches beyond factory wheel openings, giving you clearance for oversized tires and lift kits without rubbing or fender trimming.
Our Boss series uses exclusive Dura-Flex 2000 TPO material — a proprietary blend that flexes on impact instead of cracking, then returns to its original shape. We molded in a deeply textured finish that hides scratches and holds up against UV rays, salt spray, and temperature swings from -40°F to 140°F. Installation happens in under two hours with no drilling required on most applications; our patented Speed Clips lock the flares to factory mounting points, and stainless hardware is included in every kit.
- Extends 4.5 to 6 inches beyond stock fender openings for maximum tire clearance
- Dura-Flex 2000 TPO construction — impact-resistant, UV-stable, and flex-memory design
- No-drill installation on most truck models using factory mounting locations
- Textured matte black finish hides trail scuffs and resists fading
- Stainless steel hardware and Speed Clip fasteners included
Material & Construction

We developed Dura-Flex 2000 TPO specifically for the Boss flares after years of testing in Arizona deserts and Canadian winters. This thermoplastic olefin compound combines polypropylene and EPDM rubber, creating a material that bends under impact — like when a branch whips against the fender during a trail run — then snaps back into position without stress cracks.
The molded-in texture isn’t a coating that peels off; we form the grain pattern during the injection process, so every Boss flare carries the same consistent finish from edge to edge. UV inhibitors are mixed into the raw material before molding, which means the black color runs through the entire thickness instead of sitting on the surface. When a rock chips the edge, you see black underneath, not a lighter substrate.
Installation Process

No-Drill Fitment
Our Speed Clip system uses existing factory holes in your truck’s fender liner and inner wheel well. You align the flare to the body panel, then push the clips through pre-positioned slots on the flare into the OEM mounting points. Each clip expands behind the factory hole to lock in place — no self-tapping screws into painted sheet metal.
Most installations finish in 90 minutes with basic hand tools: a 10mm socket for the included stainless bolts, a trim removal tool for popping out factory clips if you’re replacing stock flares, and a torque wrench if you want to match our recommended 8 ft-lbs on the mounting hardware. We include vehicle-specific instructions for over 400 truck applications, with photos showing exact clip locations and any exceptions where a fender liner needs temporary removal.
Care & Maintenance

Wash Boss flares with the same soap and water you use on your truck’s paint. We don’t recommend protectant sprays that leave a glossy shine — the textured matte finish is designed to stay flat black, and silicone dressings attract dust in off-road conditions.
If the flares develop light surface scratches from brush contact, a heat gun set to 300°F held six inches away for 10-15 seconds will soften the TPO and allow minor abrasions to self-heal. Don’t hold the gun stationary; keep it moving across the scratch in slow passes. For deeper gouges that expose the substrate, we offer touch-up paint matched to the factory texture, though most owners find that the matte black hides damage well enough that touch-ups aren’t necessary.

Common questions about Boss fender flares
Boss flares are designed specifically for lifted trucks running oversized tires. They fit most applications with 2- to 6-inch suspension lifts and tires up to 37 inches in diameter.
We recommend using our online fitment guide to confirm compatibility with your exact year, make, model, and wheel/tire combination. The guide accounts for wheel backspacing, tire width, and suspension articulation to ensure the flares provide adequate clearance without rubbing. If you’re running a lift over 6 inches or tires larger than 37 inches, contact our technical support team for a custom fitment check before ordering.
No drilling is required on most truck models. Our patented Speed Clip system uses existing factory mounting holes in your fender liner and wheel well.
You align the flare to the body panel, then push the clips through slots on the flare into the OEM holes. Each clip expands to lock behind the factory mounting point. Stainless steel bolts secure the flare at reinforced stress points, and all hardware is included in the kit. Some older truck models (pre-2010) may require one or two additional holes for optimal fit, and those applications are noted in the vehicle-specific instructions.
Boss flares extend 4.5 to 6 inches beyond your truck’s original fender edge, depending on the specific vehicle application. Front flares typically provide 5.5 to 6 inches of coverage, while rear flares measure 4.5 to 5 inches.
We engineer each kit with measurements pulled from OEM body blueprints, so coverage varies by truck model and year. The extra width protects your paint from rocks and mud while providing clearance for oversized tires on lifted suspensions. Use our vehicle selector tool to see exact dimensions for your truck.
Yes, Boss flares accept paint after proper surface preparation. Clean the flares with wax and grease remover, then scuff the surface with 320-grit sandpaper to create texture for primer adhesion.
Apply a flexible plastic primer designed for TPO materials, followed by automotive urethane paint in your truck’s color code. Finish with a flexible clear coat to protect the paint from rock chips. Most body shops charge $400 to $600 to prep and paint a full four-piece kit. Keep in mind that the textured finish on Boss flares is designed to hide scratches when left matte black, so painting eliminates that benefit.
Boss flares are compatible with most factory mud flaps and running boards, though some adjustments may be necessary depending on your truck model. On Ford F-Series and Ram 1500 trucks, the rear flares install above factory splash guards without interference.
Chevy/GMC Silverado and Sierra applications may require trimming the bottom edge of OEM mud flaps by about one inch. Running boards and nerf bars typically don’t conflict with Boss flares, though some cab-length steps need to shift outward by 1/2 inch using extended mounting brackets. Our vehicle-specific instructions identify any known fitment notes for your truck.
We back Boss flares with a limited lifetime warranty against cracking, warping, discoloration, and manufacturing defects for as long as you own the truck. The warranty covers material failure under normal use, including off-road driving, UV exposure, and temperature extremes.
If a flare develops cracks or loses its shape due to a defect in material or workmanship, we’ll replace it at no charge. The warranty does not cover damage from collisions, improper installation, or modifications to the flare after purchase. Keep your original purchase receipt as proof of ownership when filing a warranty claim.
Wash Boss flares with regular car wash soap and water whenever you clean your truck. Rinse thoroughly to remove mud, salt, and road grime, then let the flares air dry.
Avoid silicone-based tire shine or protectant sprays on the textured finish — these products attract dust and create an unnatural gloss. If the flares develop light surface scratches, you can use a heat gun set to 300°F held six inches away to soften the material and allow minor abrasions to self-heal. Inspect the mounting hardware twice a year and tighten any loose bolts to 8 ft-lbs to maintain a secure fit.
